Read 'em and Weap..

This may be a little RBT, but I'm gonna blog it anyway. I played a tournament recently in which winning the tourney did not offer life changing money, and cashing would be a matter of bragging rights only. Deepstack turbo tourney, slow at the beginning and fast at the end, not the preferred structure by any sense of the imagination. The LAG's are easy to spot as they push a lot of the action. They also usually wear their game on their sleave, just look at their shirt and figure out their hand. So I get into a hand with the LAG at the table. I'm out of position which is ok as I know how he's gonna play. I raise 4x in EP to 600 chips with AQ off. Dealer flips up a 10s by accident which becomes the burn card. I could've folded here, but had chipped up a bit already and could afford to give up position with a medium strength hand. He calls, as usual, along with another player. Flop comes K 7 3 rainbow. I check, expecting him to bet planning to check-raise, but he checks as does the other player. Turn is a 10. I lead out with my gutshot for 1200 chips, seeing the 10 as a very safe card, and the LAG surprise surprise raises to 2,900 chips. He includes some greens, blacks, and reds to make the raise look larger. Player behind folds, so it's heads up. I contemplate for a moment to see what I can see. No way the 10 helped, not likely he has a K. Could feel his 7 or 3 is good, not likely a thinker though, so I feel it is a PLAY at the pot. He's a LAG afterall. OK. If that's my read, I need to call, and I do. River is another 7. Looks like a brick to me. I check. LAG bets quickly, just under 5K, using a variety of colors and pushes it into the middle while glaring at me with an "I'm strong I dare you to call look". Which tells me he's full of shit. So. Can I pull the trigger and call with AQ high!? 98% of the time against my Angry Jacks brethren, I make this fold. But they also tend to conceal the strength of their hands without the blatant glare. Back to the hand. I have AQ high.. but this guy is faking strength, and it's very obvious. So how weak is he. Ah, well, I don't think I'm behind. I am so sure, that I call, and turn over AQ high, and watch him muck in disgust. Mutters of "good call" last for a few hands, and I smile inside wondering if I was the ultimate donkey that hand, or, followed my read for once and mustered up the balls to act on it.
